Newtown Shootings Unleashes Liberal Vitriol

Dear Bob:

I see your vitriol hasn’t diminished since the election.  As you know, I do not own a gun nor have I ever fired a gun.  Yet, the second amendment guarantees gun ownership and whether you like it or not there is a gun culture in the United States that is as significant as any subculture in our mist. 

It seems your motto to celebrate our differences and embrace diversity, only applies to those cultures that you like.

My take on all of this confusion is just this: the problem of gun violence is complex and needs a multi-pronged solution.  We need to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and the mentally unstable.  Adam Lanza was a ticking time bomb that never had any sustained therapy.  Even with therapy he should not have had access to guns and jet planes for that matter.  His own mother taught him to shoot and left out the very guns he used in the slaughter – she was killed by her own son using her own gun.

A major problem of our society is the disintegration of the American family.  More than 50% of marriages end in divorce and people just walk around like that’s okay.  It has never been okay for the children of divorce.  Now the family is under attack again by well-meaning progressives who want same sex couples to be seen as just another alternative to marriage.  Really?  What’s next, same sex incest?  Is it any wonder that minors in America are so screwed up?.

A friend of mine relayed a story about the senseless slaughter in Newtown with the following conversation.  An atheist complained to a Christian about where God was during the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.  The Christian answered that God is not allowed in public schools anymore.
